Can't say if FF is insane without a solid definition of insanity. I think he's capable of functioning in society. He works in real estate and apparently is able to make a living at that. But his world view is extremely skewed by virtue of his extremist Charismatic beliefs. I've known people like him who believe that God speaks to them all the time. I believe God speaks to people today, but when you find somebody who claims that He speaks to them all the time and they never get anything right it's pretty clear that they're self-deluded. Is he clinically insane? Probably not, but he does have clear indications of delusions.
