The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq, the high toll of people suffering from poisoning in Basra to 102 thousand injured.

The head of the UNHCR's office in Basra, Mehdi Tamimi, said Friday that the past three days have seen the registration of two thousand cases of poisoning despite the low temperatures and lack of demand to drink water.

He added that those poisonings caused by water pollution and salinity, raised the total number of injured to 102 thousand cases.

The source pointed out that the fears still exist so far, because of the lack of knowledge of the causes of water pollution by the competent authorities so far.
