"The Sadrist movement in Iraq, led by Moqtada al - Sadr, said Saturday that the prime minister, was decided in favor of the former leader of the Supreme Council, Adel Abdul Mahdi, stressing that he is waiting for a decision to be formally assigned to the task.

"The issue of the nomination of Adel Abdul-Mahdi for prime minister was resolved between the political forces and was agreed upon in a final," he said, stressing that he is the candidate who will cost the formation of the next Iraqi government.

Al-Zamili stressed that "Abdul-Mahdi will not be calculated on any political entity, but is a representative of the spectrum of Iraq," noting that his nomination was in accordance with all political blocs.

After winning the support of the Shiite majority, which has a majority in the Iraqi parliament, Abdul Mahdi is also gaining support for the man on the Sunni side, boosting his chances of being named prime minister in Iraq.

The political parties close to the alliance of Sowron, led by Moqtada al-Sadr and the alliance led by Hadi al-Amiri, talked about the nomination of former leader of the Supreme Islamic Council Adel Abdul-Mahdi for the post of Prime Minister, supported by the Supreme Shiite cleric in Iraq, Ali al-Sistani, according to informed sources.

Although Abdul Mahdi did not officially comment on the nomination, he earlier announced that he had stopped writing his op-ed articles in Al-Adala newspaper because of his preoccupation with political discussions that did not address their nature.

Abdulmahdi assumed the position of Vice President of the Republic of Iraq in 2005, after he was a key candidate for the post of prime minister, before giving in favor of Ibrahim al-Jaafari, receiving the Ministry of Oil before resigning in March 2016.
