We get the price of weapons in foreign currency

26/09/2018 - 02:28 Middle east

An Iranian official said that his country did not give the Iraqi government in its war against an organization calling for a single gun for free, pointing out that Tehran gets the price of these weapons in foreign currency.

"The weapons delivered by Tehran to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense are not as free as some think, and we did not hand Baghdad one shot for free," Assistant Iranian Parliament Speaker for International Affairs Hussain Amir Abdullahian told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

He added that "the way we receive weapons money from Iraq, is foreign exchange, as is the case for exports of electricity," noting: "Unfortunately, some intellectuals in Iran claim that Iran handed over weapons free of charge to Iraq in its war against Dahesh.

He said Abdullahian, to help Iraq in its war against Daqash; in order to ensure national security, and said: "If we do not support Iraq and Syria against the Daash, we fight the organization in the streets of Tehran," denying the existence of tension in the relations between Baghdad and Tehran; Basra, early this month, by angry demonstrators.
