Sadr and Amiri are entering a new alliance

'' Agreed to name three presidencies '' ...

12/09/2018 - 18:11 Iraq

A coalition led by Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and al-Fateh led by Hadi al-Amiri announced a political alliance to form a coalition that would lead Iraq over the next four years.

"The meeting was very positive and they met to end the suffering of the country," Sadr told a joint news conference with al-Amiri from Najaf.

He added that the new alliance aims to «to accelerate the formation of a government within national frameworks».

He went on to say that «the alliance of conquest with others maintains the tripartite alliance between the people and the wisdom and patriotism».

Al-Fath said in a statement that al-Sadr and al-Amiri agreed to form a new government, and agreed on the personalities who will assume the three presidencies in Iraq.

The leader of the alliance Razak al-Haidari, has confirmed earlier, on Wednesday, that the date of the merger of his alliance with the alliance for the purpose of forming a large mass strong , very close.

Al-Haidari told Basnews: "Since days, dialogues have been held between the Fatah al-Fatah (led by Hadi al-Amiri) and others with the aim of merging the two alliances into one large and strong bloc."

Adding that «enter the conquest and others in one block very close, and this integration is in the best interest of the political process and the work of the new Iraqi government», according to him.

The Shiite community intensified its efforts over the past two days to bring the views of al-Fatah and al-Sadr together to form a larger bloc by proposing a compromise candidate for the post of prime minister.

The coalition of the   has denied yesterday, the existence of any intention to engage within the alliance , which is the front of the militias of popular mobilization supported by Iran, and according to observers, the axis of Tehran in the formation of the Iraqi government expected.

A spokesman for the coalition Qahtan al-Jubouri, in a press statement, there is no intention to enter new alliances outside the Alliance of Reform and Reconstruction, which includes the list of victory led by outgoing Prime Minister Haider Abadi.

According to an informed source, Basniz reported that the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards,  General Qassem Soleimani , is working on forming an alliance between the five main Shiite blocs or merging the two blocs of "Surun" and "Fatah" An unsuccessful meeting with the patron of Sadr's coalition, Muqtada al-Sadr, for this purpose.

The source said that «the failure of the meeting between Sadr and Sulaimani, held late last week after his return from Beirut, came as a result of Sadr's insistence on his declared terms regarding the formation of the next Iraqi government and the specifications of its president, and the removal of the leader of a coalition of law Nuri al-Maliki (allied with the Fatah leader Hadi al- ), And his determination to keep communists and civilians within the coalition supported by him ».

In last May's election, al-Sadr entered a united list that included the Communist Party and other secular candidates.

On the other hand, Al-Fateh's coalition led by al-Amiri in the elections consists of political groups linked to Iranian-backed Shi'ite factions, mostly under the umbrella of the popular militia.
