The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity Abdul-Hamza Hadi Abboud said on Tuesday that his ministry is trying hard to obtain an exception from the US sanctions imposed on Iran on the exchange of energy with the Islamic Republic, noting that there is an agreement between the two sides to import energy by (1200) MW.

Aboud said in a press statement that "there is an agreement between Iraq and Iran to import energy by (1200) MW, but this summer extinguished three lines out of four by the Iranian side, and currently there are two working lines are Basra Khorramshahr and Diyala Mersad contribute to the back Iraq with a capacity of (300) megawatts out of the agreed quantity of (1200) MW.

"Iraq has an agreement with the Iranian side to import gas to the electrical stations in the central and southern region and it is currently continuing to import (750) cubic meters / day."

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity to his ministry "is trying hard to get an exception to the subject of the exchange of energy with Iran from US sanctions."
