The official spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, on Friday, the Iraqi Prime Minister's decision to dismiss the head of the "popular crowd" from his post.

He said Bahram Qasimi, in statements to the agency, "Sputnik" Russian, that his country monitors all statements and positions issued by Iraqi leaders.

Qasimi pointed out that there are some misconceptions and that Tehran is following what is going on in Iraq with high accuracy.

"In the coming days we will announce Iran's position on what is going on and we will take the necessary measures," the foreign ministry spokesman said.

He also expressed the hope that "the Iraqi government will take positions in the interest of the Iraqi people, express their will, continue to fight terrorism, prevent foreign interference, and monitor and follow up everything that is happening in Iraq with high accuracy."

Earlier in the day, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced in a statement obtained by Sputnik that Faleh al-Fayadh was exempted from his duties as national security adviser, head of the Popular Struggle Organization and the National Security Apparatus.

"Given Fayyad's involvement in political and party work and his desire to address political affairs, which is contrary to his sensitive security functions, Fayadh is being relieved of his post," the statement said.
