Barzani Foundation announced that it will send the largest aid convoy to the people of Basra province in southern Iraq, which suffers from a severe shortage of services, especially drinking water.

The Foundation said in a statement: «Tomorrow will start the largest convoy to aid our people in Basra by the Barzani charity».

According to the statement, the convoy includes more than 20 trucks loaded with 100 thousand distilled water ties.

Faced with a series of tragedies this year, from the record rise in temperatures, low water levels and poor public services, Basra is facing a humanitarian catastrophe, with outbreaks of poisoning, where contaminated water has poisoned hundreds of residents who have been overwhelmed by hospitals in recent days.

In the end, there is a difference between the two  My name is  It is the most important of all

The Basra Human Rights Commission described the situation in the province as "serious" because of the high percentage of salinity and increased pollution, noting that the government did not record any action equivalent to the magnitude of the disaster.

Thousands of people from the province of Basra have been taking out protests since July 14 to demand better services and address the problem of water salinity.

Civil and media activists in Anbar province launched a campaign under the title "A drop of water from Anbar to Basra" to support the people of Basra province to provide safe drinking water after the pollution of its water.

An official at the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed earlier this month that the cultivated areas in the country fell by half, compared to last year, following the drought and the low levels of the Tigris and Euphrates.

Apart from the lack of rainfall, the main cause of the drought remains the diversion and cutting of rivers flowing into the Tigris and the Euphrates by Turkey and Iran, experts say.
