The Minister of State for Combating Corruption, Nicola Tueni, asked the Iraqi authorities to provide him with contracts signed between Lebanese companies and individuals with the Iraqi public or private sector.
The new Lebanese site said in a report that Minister Tueni sent a letter to the Iraqi Ministry of Finance asking him to provide him with the contracts signed between the Lebanese companies and individuals with the Iraqi public or private sector. He asked: "What right does the Minister of Anti-Corruption demand to provide these contracts?"
He added that two years after the announcement of the allocation of the Ministry of State to combat corruption, did not hear any file of weight achieved by this ministry or raised to the Lebanese public opinion, pointing out that "Tueni may have wanted to prove the contrary, and finally moved and demanded to provide contracts signed with Iraq."
He pointed out that "the request of Minister Tueni of the Iraqi Ministry of Finance is strange for several reasons and has no right to demand it. The first is that the authority authorized to request this is the Ministry of Finance of Lebanon and not the Ministry of Anti-Corruption, in violation of the powers of the Ministry of Finance, Because the Ministry of Finance in Lebanon is to correspond to its counterpart in Iraq. "
The website said that "the letter of the Minister of Anti-Corruption, Nicola Tueni to the Iraqi Ministry of Finance should be reversed immediately," explaining that "it would have been useful if there were suspicions of corruption that does not interfere because they are outside the scope of his powers and leave matters to the competent Iraqi authorities."
