Iraq is once again among the "most dangerous" countries in the world

Ranked fourth after Syria, Afghanistan and South Sudan ...

06/08/2018 - 21:27 Iraq

The latest version of the World Peace Index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, shows that some Arab countries still dominate the "most dangerous" list of countries around the world.

The report classifies the security situation in 163 countries around the world based on 23 different indicators, such as crime, violence and terrorism, as well as internal and other conflicts, covering more than 99% of the Earth's population.

Syria ranked first among the most dangerous countries, followed by Afghanistan, South Sudan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Congo, and Central Africa.

One of the most striking signs in the modern version is that world peace continues to deteriorate for the fourth consecutive year, falling by 0.27% in a year.

It is also remarkable that Iceland has remained the number one position in the world since 2008, with advanced positions in New Zealand, Austria, Portugal and Denmark.

While the most "safe" countries in the West are predominantly in East Asia, the most dangerous places are in Africa and the Middle East, where poverty and war create an unstable mix and fertile environment for violence, crime and war.
