Abadi urges increase in electricity supply hours in Iraq

Twilight News

(Reuters) - Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Friday urged energy workers to make efforts to increase electricity supply hours for the national system.

A statement issued by the Information Office of Abadi said that the latter inspected the project of rehabilitation of the gas units of the power station of the cycle of gas to strengthen the electrical power system.

The statement added that Abadi urged workers in this vital sector to exert maximum efforts to provide electricity in a way that helps stabilize it and increase the hours of electricity supply to citizens, as well as to support the national production sector with electricity.

For many years Iraqis have been protesting poor public services and rampant corruption in a country that receives tens of billions of dollars a year from selling oil.
