The Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers announced on Saturday that it will formulate tomorrow the final recommendations of the demands of the demonstrators of Basra province, which will be presented to the federal government at the next meeting.
The Secretariat said in a statement that in light of the directives of the Prime Minister, Dr. Haider Al-Abbadi, to review the recommendations made by the Operations Chamber of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers after a recent visit to the province of Basra, a meeting chaired by the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers in the presence of Mr. Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, Reconstruction and municipalities, and a number of chamber members.
The statement added that these recommendations have been reviewed and work to unify them with the findings of the ministerial committee chaired by the Minister of Oil.
"The statement will hold another meeting tomorrow to formulate the final recommendations in preparation for presentation at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers. The focus of this meeting was on the electricity and water sectors and the issue of employment opportunities.
Thousands of people demonstrated in a number of Iraqi provinces on Friday evening to protest against the deterioration of the living and service conditions and the lack of water and electricity as temperatures rise to half of the boiling.
This comes at a time when Basra, the richest provinces in Iraq, oil and gas since Sunday, similar protests and is continuing so far.
Demonstrators in Dhi Qar, Maysan, Najaf, Karbala, Diwaniyah and Babel called for improving the service and living conditions, providing water and electricity services, eliminating financial and administrative corruption in the state and its institutions, unemployment and providing job opportunities for the unemployed.
