Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Friday that the National Security Council had held an emergency meeting to discuss the security situation.

The office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, "The Ministerial Council for National Security is currently holding an emergency meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider Abadi."

"The meeting is to discuss the security situation," the office said.
