Editor Ammar Tariq - Wednesday 4 July

Alsumaria News / Baghdad
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday discussed with a US Senate delegation a reduction in the number of US advisers in Iraq .

"Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received in his office Tuesday a delegation of the US Senate," Abadi's office said in a statement. "The delegation included Sen. Linthari Graham, a Republican member of South Carolina and a member of the financial allocations, Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, member of the Armed Services Committee, US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Seelman, General Paul Fink, commander of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq, Syria and a number of council advisers.

"The meeting discussed the relations between the two countries, supporting Iraq in all areas and conditions in the region and reducing the number of American advisers in Iraq," the office said.

"The ability of the Iraqi forces and their victory over gangs that support terror, liberate Iraqi lands and protect civilians," the statement said, "is a continuation of support for Iraq in the areas of training and armament."

Dozens of American advisers are present in many areas of Iraq to train Iraqi forces and coordinate with them to confront the "Dahesh."
