Baghdad - The head of the Committee on Agriculture and Water parliamentary MP Fratt Tamimi, the federal government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intensify the pressure and diplomatic dialogues on the Turkish side to postpone filling the dam "Aliso" on the Tigris because of the water crisis in Baghdad and other provinces.
"Despite the success of the government and foreign affairs in persuading the Turkish side to delay the filling of the Aliso dam from March to June, this solution is temporary and futile and diplomatic efforts should continue to delay filling," al-Tamimi said in a statement. Dam to avoid a water crisis in Baghdad and other provinces and cause possible waves of displacement from the provinces during the coming years. "
He added that "most of the provinces, including Baghdad, within the Tigris River and the preservation of the releases and quotas of the river by the Turkish side is important and necessary to avoid the occurrence of environmental disasters difficult to contain."
Stressing the "need to intensify diplomatic efforts and coordination with the competent international organizations to force Turkey to abide by the charters and agreements on shared territorial waters."

Turkey definitely has Iraq between a rock and a hard place. Remember the article from a day or so ago stating that the Tigris had stopped flowing in Iraq. Not that Frank and his ilk will pay any attention to real boots on the ground conditions.
