The United States promised to activate the framework of the trade and investment agreement with Iraq, stressing its support for strengthening ties between the two countries to build a multi-dimensional relationship through trade, education, cultural exchange, cultural protection, law enforcement, environmental protection, energy and others.

We will continue to strengthen our ties to build a multi- Through trade, education, cultural exchange, cultural protection, law enforcement, environmental protection, energy and other vital areas. "

"In 2008, Dulata signed the Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) to reaffirm the desire of the two sides to establish lasting ties of cooperation and friendship, and today the SFA is the basis on which we build a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. I KNEW THIS WAS A HUGE ARTICLE...THEN I SAW DELTA'S RESPONSE!!WOW!!!!!! GET THE FIREWORKS READY!!!!

Stand4Christ » January 29th, 2018

Thank you to both Samson and Delta ...... I want to point out this very important thing

IMO, this is another major reason (other than the "reverse investment effect") why after the RV, USD will be pushed high too ----- trade goes both ways, besides lots of investors worldwide (including those from US) can go and invest into Iraq, but since Iraq mostly relies on imports, with citizens' money's purchasing power being brought up to be on par with USD, Iraqi citizens will then suddenly be able to afford buying the expensive American products ..... can I hear iPhones ?? Ford Mustang ?? Chevrolet Camaro ?? MacBook Pro ?? Also the expensive American military products and equipment ???

Iraq's RV is in fact opening the door for America to export things to Iraq, which will be affordable to Iraqi citizens and the Iraqi government. The sudden surge of American exports to a "brand new market" will also greatly boost USD strength, American domestic manufacturing, and our GDP as the result.

This is how "trade" goes both ways, and this is why the soon coming "USD supercharge" is inevitable, which will cause things like gold, silver, oil, etc. to suddenly crash as the result.

I smell The Marshall Plan. The military-side overlaps with the economic-side in 3, 2, 1... Anyway, I know this isn't WW1 or 2, but reparations of another kind will be made. Germany just less-than ten years ago finally paid off the war debt they owed us. You fight us and lose, you pay our war debt. Same for Japan. Just a little different for them.

We rebuilt their economy after leveling the place and used our military construction to rebuild their county and generated a bias trade alliance so America could import Japanese goods at reduced rates (think EXIM Bank here). Japan was what China twenty years ago was. Now, China is actually having quality products made. Just like Japan did years ago and still do today. I have my own opinions on the Iraq war and, but I'm just rambling now. Hopefully what I typed can give an idea that what may happen is noting new. It's 'nation building'.

Stand4Christ » January 29th, 2018

What do you guys think ??? More I read the news Samson just brought, more I have this gut feeling ..... the very "activation of the framework" might very well be itself "the" RV trigger (which is probably waiting for during/after Trump's speech) !!!????

WCM » January 29th, 2018

Well, that's what I was thinking the other day when I saw this Strategic Framework agreement was to be signed today....I can't remember where this 3 days comes in that has been mentioned....but if it's a real thing, then 3 days takes you to Wed. 31- (which with time difference could be 30th, or wake me up to it on 31st.

US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan said during his meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Monday that his country will participate in the donor conference in Kuwait through the presence of 100 US investment companies.

Al-Jaafari received today, in Baghdad, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and his accompanying delegation. The meeting reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, and means of strengthening them to serve the interests of both countries, the Foreign Minister's Office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News. Friendly. "

"Iraq is a country that has been affected, suffered, engulfed in terrorism, faced, and defeated, and these are the elements of power it enjoys today, and the countries of the world should value the sacrifices made by the Iraqis in the war against terrorism," the office quoted Jaafari as saying.

"It is not easy for war-affected countries to rebuild their cities, no matter how rich, without the help of friendly countries, because of the great damage caused by wars, especially in the war against a fanatic terrorist," Jaafari said.

Jaafari stressed that "Iraq is keen to establish the best relations with developed countries, and look forward to activate the strategic framework agreement, and the formation of committees between the ministries of the two countries, to strengthen cooperation between Baghdad and Washington in various fields."

Al-Jaafari expressed "Baghdad's aspiration to attend an active America at the donor conference to be held in Kuwait next month by urging US companies and friendly countries to come and contribute to support Iraq and rebuild the infrastructure of Iraqi cities."

For his part, John Sullivan praised the "victories achieved by the Iraqis," adding that "the meeting of the High Coordination Committee under the leadership of the US State Department, and the Iraqi was very fruitful in the framework of moving forward in activating the strategic framework agreement between the two countries and to support economic relations, .

"The United States will attend the donor meeting to be held in Kuwait through the participation of Foreign Minister Rex Tilerson, and encourage and attend more than 100 US investment companies seeking to work and contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq."

Trump threatens to tackle EU over "unfair" trade policy

29th January, 2018

US President Donald Trump has threatened to address the EU on what he calls his "completely unfair" trade policy toward the United States.

Trump demands tougher enforcement of trade rules and last week signed a law imposing 30 percent tariffs on solar panels imported under the first unilateral trade restrictions imposed by the US administration under a wider trade protection program.

"I have a lot of problems with the EU that could turn out to be a very big thing ... from a commercial point of view," Trump said in an interview with British television station ITV.

"We can not introduce our products. This is very difficult. However, they send their products to us without taxes or very weak taxes. It is totally unfair. LINK

Abadi's war against corruption must begin with Maliki, his henchmen

28th January, 2018

Corruption is the most dangerous obstacle against Iraq's development. As the country enjoys many natural resources like minerals and oil, the international community is concerned with Iraq's high level of corruption.

Corruption in Iraq has caused severe poverty in Iraq, which led to civil and sectarian strife that caused the extreme damages to the country's infrastructure.

Shia parties lead corruption

After the US invasion to Iraq in 2003, Shia parties seized all the important posts in the government and led a widespread corruption campaign, which analysts assert that Iraq's losses have reached over 1,000 billion dollars during the last ten years.

The most prominent entity that led this campaign was the ruling Dawa party, led by the former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, who was describe by experts as the "Godfather of Corruption" as he is implicit in numerous corruption, graft and embezzlement cases.

Recently, the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi launched a campaign against corruption in Iraq, but analysts told The Baghdad Post that until now Abadi didn't dare to press any charges against Maliki.

They added that as Abadi's popularity increased after the victory against ISIS, the prime minister seeks to increase his popularity ahead of the elections by pretending to fight corruption, describing this campaign as an "electoral propaganda".

Politicians are also skeptical from Abadi's actions, after Abadi extradited the former trade minister Abdul Falah al-Sudany from Lebanon after cooperating with the Interpol, and the son of the Luai al-Yasiri the governor of Najaf in a drug trafficking case.

They fear that these actions are just a show ahead of the elections and the Iraq's reconstruction conference that will be held in Kuwait in February. His actions just aim at ensuring investors that their donations and investments won't be embezzled by corrupt officials and politicians.

The Iraqi people wish to see the anti-corruption slogans practiced on the ground, away from the occasion of elections or the upcoming Kuwait conference, and away from personal and electoral gains to include all corrupt politicians no matter how strong or influential they are.

Analysts say, during his tenure from 2006 to 2014, Maliki accumulated power and influence that surpassed the incumbent Abadi, stressing that this is the reason why the PM can't hold him accountable for his crimes that led to the bankruptcy of Iraq after his embezzlement of Iraq's oil profits and the country's destruction in the war against ISIS.

They added that If Abadi is serious in his war against corruption then he must begin with Maliki and his henchmen. LINK
