Article:  "Barzani: The time has come to demand the postponement of the referendum will not take my people"  Quote:  "The president of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, said the claims and calls to postpone the referendum on independence “is over."   The title is a little deceiving. However, it also points out Barzani clearly intends to “negotiate” with Baghdad afterwards. The whole thing has the feel of a “squeeze play”.  Barzani may well know he has no chance of a true independence play. On the other hand, while this is an “extra-Constitutional” vote, Abadi and the GOI ignore their Constitution when it suits them as well.

The referendum will pass easily.  Everyone holding IQD should be crying profusely, this is an absolute death knell to any notion of revaluation.  KRG will go buh bye with their oil, Iraq is royally screwed.  They need to be pegged to USD even more now.  Anyone who thinks Kurdish secession helps the RV is a complete imbecile.

that may be true but if they do it will be war in iraq, Iraq has move army near the border and Paramilitary leader warns of “inevitable” civil war after referendum and if they do you can FORGET any any reinstatement, RD, RI and any increase in the value of the dinar anytime soon. THE IRAQ DINAR IS DEAD IN THE WATER

Yup, same threats used by Russia and Spain when there were attempts by Catalonia and Ukraine to secede.  Lots of threats going around, Baghdad and Turkey and Iran know this referendum is a threat to them, because other areas of the Middle East would be emboldened to secede.  Problem is, Iraq would be obliterated in a confrontation with Peshmergha forces, unless...uh...we see ISIS pop back up again in Kurdistan.  Once people realize how ISIS was formed and how it is funded, the charade swiftly ends.

Ergodan is a dictator, and we'd see all kinds of conflict at their border, because Kurdistan's secession is a direct threat to his stranglehold on his power.  People have a right to be free, and to decide their leadership.  Government governs by the consent of the goverened.  KRG needs to make this move because they've been completely ignored and abused by autocrats and big oil for decades.  Even if this is just leverage to get Baghdad back to the table under global pressure, fine.  Baghdad owes KRG so much friggin money it would make your head spin.  This is a main reason why there will be no RV - sovereign debts, both domestic and international, getting paid with inflated currency are the best solution for a central bank. They want weak currency, period.  Nobody ever addresses this.  They cannot just spike value overnight and owe trillions with a strong currency, the math doesn't work.  Once KRG gets their referendum passed, and the threat of them leaving with their oil, Baghdad will get squeezed and will need to borrow, AGAIN.  There will be no RV.
