|Proper spelling & grammar important for bank exchange and working with professionals later|
The papers we give the bankers and other professionals should have proper spelling and grammar.
I’ve struggled with writing this post as I never wish to be unkind. But I’ve decided it would be unkind for me not to alert some of the people here who are preparing papers to give the banker at the exchange appointment.
I have participated in several dozen message boards for well over a decade. The spelling and grammar on this site is the worst I have ever seen. Autocorrect can be blamed for lots of the errors but not all.
I’m not a natural writer and I don’t enjoy writing. I make a lot of mistakes. I’ve taken classes in business writing and they have helped enormously. I work on my writing every day because top quality documents and speaking skills will help me create affordable housing for poor seniors.
Poor spelling and grammar will lessen the amount of help we can provide after the RV.
This is why I see a need for this post on WSOMN.
Documents with bad spelling and grammar will make the bankers think we are the “toothless crackheads” they have been hearing about. We want to work with the most sophisticated and trained professionals.
You are all nice people and I would hate for any of you create a bad impression which will limit the help you will get as you try to help others.
We will be wealthy. Wealthy people tend to write good English. I don’t want a few writing problems to inspire bankers, advisors, business people, and new neighbours to underestimate your intelligence and experience.
This isn’t about snobbery - it’s about giving an accurate impression and doing our best to help others after the RV.
Please run your documents through your word processor’s spelling and grammar check. If your computer’s software doesn’t have this function, email the document to yourself.
Then go to your local library, download your document from your email onto the library computer and use their word processor (MicroSoft Word, iPages, etc) to open the document. Then run the grammar and spelling check.
If you don’t know how to do this, ask a librarian for help.
For privacy, you can email two documents to yourself - one related to the RV and one that is not. Ask the librarian for instruction using the text not related to the RV.
Then ask a dinar friend who has better language skills than you to review your papers. (Do not ask a family member as they tend to talk and write in similar ways.)
One of the ways to learn good English can be learned by watching the videos on YouTube. I researched several producers on YouTube and consider EngVid the best.
Start with this one
Focus on the Writing in English series (scroll down almost to the bottom of the page).
My intention in writing this post is solely to help. I truly hope I haven’t offended anyone. Good writing and speaking skills are tools. We all need the best tools to do the most good for others

Well go figure. You should know how to spell and talk properly. I see trouble ahead for a lot of the WSOMNers.

Looks like somebody got into the English teaching biz, and they're using their concern for the elderly to market their YouTube channel to the dinar world.
