20/08/2014 10:45:00
BAGHDAD / NINA / MP, of the Fadhilah party, Abdul-Hussein al-Moussawi expected that the assigned Prime Minister, Haider Abadi could form a government enjoys the consent of the political blocs, but it would not include candidates for the chancellorship of national security and intelligence.
He said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / "The forming of the next government is expected to be provided by, Haider al-Abadi to the parliament after the end of the constitutional time, but it will be without the names of candidates for the chancellorship of intelligence and national security."
He pointed out that "there are ongoing negotiations between the components of the National Alliance for the Ministry of Interior, and no final agreement on the number of ministerial portfolios, which goes to the National Alliance in the new cabinet."
Al-Moussawi added that "Abadi is facing a difficult task to find a balance between the demands of the religious authority and the Iraqi people, for the need of limbering Ministerial, and between the pressures of the international community for the involvement of all components in the next government."
He pointed out that "the political blocs are well aware of the nature of the security conditions and the political crisis that gripped the country which will guarantee the birth of government within the constitutional specified ceiling ".
He made it clear that "the scenario of forming the previous government could be repeated in the current one and prime minister might submit his government almost complete and may meet with the approval of blocs and political components."
The leadership of the National Alliance had met last night, with negotiating committee that was formed by the coalition for the formation of the government.
The leadership of the National Alliance heard at the meeting, according to a statement for the National Alliance to "Report of the negotiating committee on the progress of negotiations and meetings held with representatives of the political blocs" ./ end

Re: MP: Abadi's government may not include candidates of Intelligence and National Security
I have seen a couple of articles where the new PM has said the cabinet may be smaller those previous ones. If he can just make up how many there will be, how will anyone know when the selections are complete and what constitutes a fully seated government?

Yes, and as far as I can tell there are no mandatory seats, so the PM has pretty free reign as long as he can get Parliamentary approval.
