A look back at 2013 for Iraq

It is often said that we should never look back but indeed look forward. For the past cannot be changed, forgotten, edited, or erased. It can only be accepted. But at this time of year about to enter a new year, people tend to look at the year in passing and seek out ways in which to improve and ensure the coming year is the best yet, naturally we are all interested in betterment and development and Iraq is no different.
Economically Iraq had a pretty decent year for the most part. Some notable achievements include but most definitely are not limited to:
Socially the year of 2013 was not so great, Iraq experienced it’s Deadliest year since 2008 with 7,000+ killed from violence.
Iraq has also had the misfortune of limping on without the use of a president after current President Jalal Talabani was taken ill and shrouded in secrecy as to what was actually going on, this is actually still an ongoing case but pictures have recently been released to show that he is on the mend. It is said that Jalal suffered a devastating stroke.
Looking forwards to 2014 we will see the listing of Zain Iraq, another telecoms company which should hit the market in spectacular fashion. Really excited about the Zain IPO.. big expectations.
It is important for Iraq to tackle distrust of the West. This is a key one. The ability of Western partners to help is directly determined by the degree to which the host government is comfortable working with them. It is essential for the host government to articulate its vision of the relationship it wants with the West.

- The removal of Chapter 7 effectively giving Iraq full control of it’s own sovereignty.
- Asiacell listing earlier in the year equating to the biggest IPO listing in the Middle East since 2008. $1.3 billion raised.

I guess I just do not understand Baghdad Invest...
We have had a good year... lets look back on it!
You are all fools and will never get money!
Iraq is doing very well and stability is happening!
Iraq is the most unstable country there is and you will never see a dime off it!
I'm sorry but pick a fence and sit on it.. i don't have time for fence jumpers.
