Prayer Shawl Ministry

I am part of the Prayer Shawl ministry at our church. We knit, crochet, or quilt shawls to give to people who are ill, going thru a divorce, good times, bad times, weddings, baptisms or just like to pray. The shawl gives the receipiant a sense of God wrapping His Loving Arms around them. I believe it empowers people and gives the "an anchor" to hold on to when times a tough. There is a national group that we patterened our group off of 4+ years ago, in the beginning and have developed from there. We have given out over 700 shawls world wide. These are given at no cost!
If anyone is interested in starting a group in your church, all it takes is one or two to start ,,, we teach those that want to learn, and we even have two men that came in and both are still contributing! They do a straight knit stitch ... the purl stitch is "too fancy" for them (LOL Bless their hearts). We meet once a month to bring in our shawls and have some fellowship, We bless the shawls and then wrap them up for our pastors to distribute. It's an amazing ministry!!!
