Opening Bank Accounts
We have been advised to not use our home adr. on anything. How do you open a bank account without using your home adr.? What do you suggest? I have very, very limited funds until I can cash-in. I actually have no home adr. at present.

Re: Opening Bank Accounts
I see no reason to hide my home address. Look at Steve Jobs... I would say he had quite a substantial amt of wealth and not only was his address public, he didnt even have a security gate. I think the gurus have made people paranoid for no reason. WHEN there is a rate change, and you finally can cash this in, then open an acct. Dont sweat it right now.....

Re: Opening Bank Accounts
You can get a private mailbox address from a supplier like the UPS Store. This will give you a street address like: "12345 SW 105th St, Suite 305" or something which you can use. Mine was about $100 to setup.
If you use a US passport instead of a driver's license for ID it will also not have your home address. This is simply to have another layer of security on your bank accounts.
Hope that helps. - db

Re: Opening Bank Accounts
I just obtained a private mailbox locally today, at a Mail/shipping business.
Unlike the local USPS PO Box I had for 4 years, this also offers me a legitimate street address for mailing (no PO box reference), 24-hour access to my mailbox; and this entity will receive any UPS/Fed Ex shipments for me, as well as give me mail forwarding for a small fee when I need it. They also offer notary, security shredding, E-filing, copy and many other services on-site. Rates are between $10-$12 bucks a month for a small mailbox; depending if you pay-by-month or in 3-month increments.
For what I'm getting here I think it's a great deal, compared to just a USPS PO BOX for $48 every six months with limited access, and hardly any other of the above listed services. YMMV.

Blinkster, you are right on target....I have had the exact same thing set up for 10+ years now..Besides the added layer of security, to have the other options available is just a bonus..
Thumbs up!

Re: Opening Bank Accounts
THE U.S.Post Office now has a new service which includes having a streeet address that can be used, ie. 12345 Elm Street, #469 (or whatever your box number is).. The advantage to the U.S. Post Office service is that if you moved to a new state, all you have to do is change the U>S.P.S address and all your mail can be forwarded with one notice. If you have a UPS mailbox and were to move, you would have the responsibility to notify everyone from whom you receive mail. Just a thought.
