Intelligent Debate Empty Intelligent Debate

Post by gmahunni Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:59 pm

It is sad and unproductive to see where political discourse has fallen. In our nation of freedom of ideas and expression, we should have matured to a level where we can disagree without demonizing those with whom we disagree. I have to point out, however, that the responsibility lies with our leaders. The tone taken by those who SHOULD command respect instead provokes hostility, and instead of having debates over the issues, we have surrendered to "categorizing" and name calling those with whom we disagree, or represent the "other side." If we are to survive as a nation, we MUST mature beyond the poor examples set by our leaders, and not allow them to continue to divide us so that we are easier to "conquer." We are AMERICANS, living in a nation whose great experiment of FREEDOM is threatened by a few in power who would rather have us battling each other than focused on what they are doing to us. In my opinion, all the debates and finger pointing boil down to this: Do you want FREEDOM, or do you want Tyranny? Do you want the opportunity to make your life what you want it to be, or do you want to be dictated to and told when you've done "enough." In your mind, Is Government the PROBLEM, or the SOLUTION?

Once we answer these questions, we will know how united or divided we stand. Since we will likely still be a divided nation, we need to learn how to co-exist while respecting our differences. In other words, we need SOLUTIONS, not contentions, finger pointing, name calling and hatred. This is what the corrupt few WANT us preoccupied with.

Here is where I'd like to start: Just because someone doesn't agree with Obama, dislikes his "tone" as he refers to those who disagree with him, or vehemently opposes his world view DOES NOT MAKE THEM A RACIST. To respond to every criticism of the President in this way is not intelligent, and it incites and provokes the very animosity that the corrupt few WANT provoked. In other words, you're playing into the hands of those who want to control us. On the same token, just because you supported Obama in the last election doesn't mean you should be called a KOOL-AID drinker, BABY KILLER, or SOCIALIST. It's important to understand that each of us has to vote our individual values and we have 300,000,000 different reasons to vote the way we do. Let's all make a commitment to TRY to be civil with one another. Don't allow yourself to be manipulated by those who stand to gain by manipulating you. Do your research and EDUCATE yourself about the issues that are important to you. ABOVE ALL, stop TRUSTING what you HEAR. In our current political culture, the work RHETORIC is synonymous with LYING. Stop believing what you're told, and start observing actions. We've all been taught that ACTIONS speak LOUDER than WORDS, and this is not a time to ignore those lessons.

If we are to continue on, to repair the damages done to our Republic and correct them, we must put aside childish bickering and blind loyalty and look with clarity at the problems facing our nation. We outnumber them. Think of the cartoon "Bugs Life." We are all the ants, and they are the grasshoppers. If we get a CLUE to our size and strength, they will run scared. If they keep us divided, angry, distracted, and afraid of THEM, we are controllable. Think about it, then decide where you stand. Ask yourself if it's worth the risk to STAND. If you think it's worth it to send the grasshoppers running and take back our nation, then let's STAND TOGETHER. We don't have to agree on everything to do this. We just have to want Freedom over Tyranny, and the ability to bring mature, civil, intelligent discourse to the table. "We the People, in order to form a more PERFECT Union, establish justice and ensure domestic tranquility..."

We need to keep talking to each other. If we stop talking to people with whom we disagree, we stop finding solutions that respect one another. Let's just find a better way to go about it than our leaders are. We are better than that!

I read and posted, and would like to know if you are using this scripture to justify the state of things today? I think we can, if willing, rise above what we've sunk to. You can justify in a million different ways how you feel about something, but what gets solved through justification? What gets solved through hatred or war? The scriptures acknowledge our tendencies, and yet I believe call us HIGHER than base instinct. Eph. 4:17--27

I interpret this scripture thus: Always LOVE, for there is no greater power on earth than Love, and against Love there is no weapon that can stand, If you're going to hate, hate the effects of evil, that seeks to steal, kill and destroy us. If we must go to war, war against the TRUE enemy of Love (Eph. 6:11-18), stand for TRUTH (pure, holy, righteous) and at all times make war a LAST resort to preserve the ultimate goal: Peace. Eph. 30-32

Intelligent Debate Empty A fresh perspective

Post by gmahunni Wed Jul 27, 2011 6:30 pm

Trying to find answers that don't lie in a "side of the aisle", I found this perspective refreshing. SOLVING our problem, not party loyalty, is what we should all focus on. What we should decide among us is HOW to SOLVE the problems? I like what I read in this blog:http://www.gods-kingdom-ministries.org/weblog/WebPosting.cfm?LogID=2813

"Why do we owe the Fed anything? The solution is:

1. Nationalize the Fed, so it is truly a FEDERAL Reserve.
2. Convert all Fed Notes (i.e., debt notes) into real interest-free money.
3. Convert all bonds to real money, except those held by the Fed itself. All of their bonds should be confiscated by the US Treasury and cancelled out.
4. Declare a Jubilee. Everyone now owns their own homes and cars, and there are plenty of empty homes for the homeless. (Private loans may be compensated by the government.)

Chaos? Yes, of course. Bad? Only for the Fed and its owners. As the tower of Babel falls, there will certainly be some chaos. But the alternative is to live in its shadow as perpetual slaves of men unknown to us living in ivory towers.

So while Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum fight over their different solutions to the debt crisis, keep in mind that neither solution will work in the long run. The Democratic Plan would last longer, but would put the people in greater bondage through taxes. The Republican Plan would cut taxes and reverse the flow of money from the Stimulus packages from recent years. This would cause the greatest Depression ever seen on Planet Earth.

There is a third solution, if anyone is interested in God's view. Most people know nothing about it, having never studied biblical law. Even Christians have been taught to despise the law, and hence, they seldom study it and hardly ever understand the little that they read.

But this is the plan that will win in the end. The Babylonian system has been unsustainable, and the seeds of its own destruction were sown at its very beginning. Bankers thought that they could take over the world, with usury as their weapon of choice. But at the pinnacle of their success, they will fail through arrogance and pride. The great Stone will crush their toes at the appointed time." Dr. Stephen Jones, Gods Kingdom Ministry Blog post 7/27/11 "Debt Crisis Solutions by Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum".
This is a partial quote. For more on this post check out the link I posted above the quote.

I have yet to understand WHY the people that we voted for, "hired" to represent us , have let these issues remain unresolved todate. How ultimately sad....

I agree, Reev. There's an insidious thing called corruption and frustration when you're in the minority of those who want to genuinely fix what is broken. Since MAJORITY rules, and the majority has been swayed by $ and power, it's frustrating for the idealistic few who WANT to make a difference in Washington. I have a Representative that I believe in, but he's one small fish in a very polluted cesspool!
