PostSubject: Iran sentences American man to death in CIA case   Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:10 am

http://news.yahoo.com/iran-sentences-american-man-death-cia-case-082241130.html

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian court has convicted an American man of working for the CIA and sentenced him to death, state radio reported Monday, in a case adding to the accelerating tension between the United States and Iran.

Iran charges that as a former U.S. Marine, Amir Mirzaei Hekmati received special training and served at U.S. military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan before heading to Iran for his alleged intelligence mission. The radio report did not say when the verdict was issued. Under Iranian law, he has 20 days to appeal.
The 28-year-old former military translator was born in Arizona and graduated from high school in Michigan. His family is of Iranian origin. His father, a professor at a community college in Flint, Michigan, has said his son is not a CIA spy and was visiting his grandmothers in Iran when he was arrested.

Behnaz Hekmati, his mother, said in an email to The Associated Press that she and her husband, Ali, are "shocked and terrified" that their son has been sentenced to death. She said the verdict is "the result of a process that was neither transparent nor fair."
His trial took place as the U.S. announced new, tougher sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, which Washington believes Tehran is using to develop a possible atomic weapons capability.
Iran, which says it only seeks nuclear reactors for energy and research, has sharply increased its threats and military posturing against stronger pressures, including the U.S. sanctions targeting Iran's Central Bank in attempts to complicate its ability to sell oil.

The U.S. State Department has demanded Hekmati's release.
The court convicted him of working with a hostile country, belonging to the CIA and trying to accuse Iran of involvement in terrorism, Monday's report said.
In its ruling, a branch of Tehran Revolutionary Court described Hekmati as a mohareb, an Islamic term that means a fighter against God, and a mofsed, or one who spreads corruption on earth. Both terms appear frequently in Iranian court rulings.

In a closed court hearing in late December, the prosecution asked for the death penalty for Hekmati.
The U.S. government has called on Iranian authorities to grant Swiss diplomats access to him in prison. The Swiss government represents U.S. interests in Iran because the two countries don't have diplomatic relations.
Hekmati is a dual U.S.-Iranian national. Iran considers him an Iranian since the country's law does not recognize dual citizenship.
Similar cases against Americans accused of spying have heightened tensions throughout the years-long standoff over Iran's nuclear program.

Iran arrested three Americans in July 2009 along the border with Iraq and accused them of espionage, though the Americans said they were just hiking in the scenic and relatively peaceful Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
One of them was released after a year in prison, and the other two were freed in September in deals involving bail payments that were brokered by the Gulf sultanate of Oman, which has good relations with Iran and the U.S.
On Dec. 18, Iran's state TV broadcast video of Hekmati delivering a purported confession in which he said he was part of a plot to infiltrate Iran's Intelligence Ministry.
In a statement released the same day, the Intelligence Ministry said its agents identified Hekmati before his arrival in Iran, at Bagram Air Field in neighboring Afghanistan. Bagram is the main base for American and other international forces outside Kabul, the Afghan capital.

It is not clear exactly when he was arrested. Iranian news reports have said he was detained in late August or early September.
Hekmati's father said in a December interview with The Associated Press, that his son was a former Arabic translator in the U.S. Marines who entered Iran about four months earlier to visit his grandmothers.
At the time, he was working in Qatar as a contractor for a company "that served the Marines," his father said, without providing more specific details.

We know that foreign nationals have rights in the U.S. and that the U.S. would never do such as this, to an accused spy, right?

I'm thinking of no trial Gitmo, enemy combatant designations, outsourcing captivity to clandestine prisons on foreign soil, etc...

Israel wants a war with Iran... this much has been established long ago... Israel will say anything and from what i can see, they will do anything to provoke this war. Every piece of "information" that you see in the media is as phony as the last war was... There never were any WMD's... and now who is accusing Iran of having nuclear weapons?
When is this nonsense going to end? We just get out of one war and the insane dogs in the world want to drag us back into another... There is no end of trouble making for some people, this should be obvious.
Soon they will be asking you to send your children off to another insane war, another insane politicians ranting...
Its time to just say NO to these wacko's
America's children are not cannon fodder...
The war on terrorism is a farce and needs to end. At least call it what is really is, a war on other peoples land to acquire their property, oil, precious metals, poppy's... at no cost...
What does Iran have that Israel wants? That is the real question.

SOURCES AND TRANSCRIPT: http://www.corbettreport.com/?p=3588

As the US and Iranian governments escalate tensions in the already
volatile Straits of Hormuz, and China and Russia begin openly
questioning Washington's interference in their internal politics, the
world remains on a knife-edge of military tension. Far from being a
dispassionate observer of these developments, however, the media has in
fact been central to increasing those tensions and preparing the public
to expect a military confrontation. But as the online media rises to
displace the traditional forms by which the public forms its
understanding of the world, many are now beginning to see first hand how
the media lies the public into war.

Learn more about the media manipulations behind the beginning of war in this week's GRTV backgrounder

That attack was a false flag operation that if successful would have led us into a full middle east conflict at that time. A Russian destroyer came to observe, only then with a witness did Israel withdraw...

My question is, would you know a terrorist if one walked up to you?
How can you tell if you saw one... are they a different color, do they smell bad or smell like something you can't identify? Do they have polka dots on them?
I mean, how do you know one by sight? Do they walk around flashing their middle east passports, like they did at 911, according to the Bush Administration. and lets not forget the WMD's that never did exist.
Some people still think Bush and Chaney are terrorists... and after introducing the "Homeland Security Act" which, if you read your history of Nazi Germany is an act that duplicates what the SS prescribed to, said and did during WWII... well, you make your own decisions...
Personally I don't think you need to look outside this nation to find the real terrorists, and believe it or not they are not always folks from the middle east, or any other part of the world. Terrorism, another word for the War on Drugs, as created and supplied by the CIA. And just who are the "Good guys"... would that be the CIA, NSA HS,??? The bankers and Wall Street did more to destroy the fabric of this country then any terrorist you can name. Politicians like McCain and Levin who sponsored the latest NDAA act (which gives the cops the right to arrest YOU for no reason, and hold you indefinitely in jail on no charges... So exact Who are the terrorists?

There is no substitute for hate, bigotry, prejudice or ignorance... these things speak loudly for themselves and need no, have no explanation. The people behind the media know these facts and the psychology and use these facts to manipulate the people into doing things. Like starting wars that are baseless and meaningless. Just tell the people something ridiculous and watch the results.
Our history books are full of examples of people being led to the slaughter in the name of things they cannot even understand.
Hitler burned the Reichstag and blamed in on the people he wanted to invade... When the twin towers fell who really did the deed? many people who researched thousands of hours of TV, Video footage, interviews, personal statements etc. and found one common thread, and it was not the middle east.

Now they same voices are telling you Iran has something bad and they are going to use it on???? propaganda has no end, has no mind and has no purpose other then to excite the people to do the wrong things...

Tell that to my friend who's sister was a stewardess on one of the flights. She was dead before the plane hit the towers, throat slit open because she would not give up the keys to the cockpit. So they killed her and took the keys. Better yet, don't tell her ... it would be beyond cruel. We have all seen the footage, and I know two people who saw the planes hit, and them fall. The towers were never designed to withstand an impact from a plane that size. They were not even on the drawing board then. Had it been the size of say a 707, they might have stood. That is another conspiracy theory that just does not hold water.

That's right Devaron... one just has to view the 911 tapes to see the buildings implode and not explode. These images were shown over and over so often that people just plain no long observe what is right in front of their noses. Kind of puts an exclamation point on the phrase the masses are azzes.

Hmmm... Kol Nidre huh Alchemist?

I love it when you put a few words out there to get us learning. Not familiar with this I looked it up. Let me know if I am interpreting it correctly ok?

The condensed version seems to say that with regards to vows it is acceptable to lie and deceive. That some vows supercede others that were made if they are not remembered at time of vow. (Seems to have a lot of wiggle room regarding vows). This service seems to allow the annulment of previous years vows that would free a person from being liable from violating personel vows.

How am I doing? Am I close?

This reminds me of confession to the Catholics. It is ok to do whatever as long as you confess and say a couple of Hail Mary's.
